Study: Safety Cameras Save Lives
A 2011 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety national study concluded:

Red light running fatal crash rates reduced by 24 percent in the 14 largest U.S. cities using cameras, including Garland, Phoenix, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Chicago and San Diego.

159 lives were saved in these 14 cities from 2004-2008 because of cameras.

815 lives could have been saved had red light cameras been used in every U.S. city with more than 200,000 people.
